CIDP

CIDP stands for “chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy”, belonging to a kind of polyneuropathy, which is classified as a chronic progressive autoimmune neuropathy.

CIDP is a neurological disease mainly characterized by multiple muscle weakness and sensory abnormalities throughout the body. It is a chronic, autoimmune, demyelinating, and progressive neurological disorder. Its symptoms include abnormal finger sensation, fatigue, cramps, muscle atrophy, etc. The course of this disease can last from several months or several years, and there can be several episodes of aggravation and deterioration during the course. Patients may experience balance disturbance, difficulty moving, muscle weakness and muscle atrophy. It will ultimately lead to complete paralysis.

The exact cause of this disease is not yet fully understood, but studies have shown that when the immune system attacks the nerve sheath or other myelinated nerves, it can be started. This abnormal immune response may be an autoimmune disorder or abnormal immune responses caused by certain infections or viruses.

Researches at Wu Medical Center lately showed that, with biology technology, its immune control therapy can help stop the disease from progressing and from relapsing. The treatment at Wu Medical Center can help accomplish nerve repair and restore patient’s movement and sensation functions. It is the most effective treatment at present, and indicates a powerful treatment direction.
