Multiple System Atrophy (MSA)
Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) is a kind of neurological condition where multiple cerebral nerve tissues have been affected. These include the cerebellum, (MSA-C type), resulting in balance disturbance), vegetable nerve system, (MSA-A type), resulting in Orthostatic Hypotension, urinary function disturbance, heart function disturbance), brain stem and basal ganglia, (MSA-P type) resulting in Parkinson-like symptoms). The cerebral cortex would get affected at a relatively later stage resulting in cognitive function decline. It is a progressive disease where brain nerve cells gradually decrease. When the number of cells decreases to a certain level the disease will progress faster and brain atrophy can be observed in imaging.
Since the brain neurons cannot regenerate themselves, once damaged, there has been no effective treatment for that before (No treatment can stop the development of the disease).
Previous treatment mainly included symptomatic treatment and rehabilitation treatment but the effect was not good. The degeneration and necrosis of neurons and oligodendrocytes could not be inhibited by various drugs. In recent years, Wu Medical Center (WMC) has found that nerve regeneration therapy can directly activate brain function and repair nerve damage. Many patients can obtain good improvement. The nerve regeneration therapy must be under appropriate medical control, which can significantly improve the patient's motor function, balance function and autonomic nerve function. Nerve regeneration therapy can make the brain produce normal proteome, which can replace the function of patients' abnormal protein and reduce the aggregation of inclusion bodies in nerve cells and oligodendrocytes. This treatment can restore nerve function and slow down the progress of MSA, Parkinson's disease, dementia and a series of neurodegenerative diseases.
However, just nerve regeneration itself can only make 5-10% improvement of nerve function and the effect can only be maintained for less than 1 month due to the impact of the disease. Because the pathological and toxic internal environment caused by the disease is still there, the regenerated nerves can die away and lose their functions just as patients’ own nerve cells do. Only under the protection of appropriate drug therapy (improving brain environment, eliminating free radical toxicity, eliminating excitatory amino acid toxicity, neuroprotection, etc.), can we reach an effective treatment and have the effects maintained for a long time. Wu Medical Center (WMC) has treated a lot of patients, significantly improved their movement and balance function, improved their life quality and prolonged their life span.
